Things Are Changing at Next Page

Ah, social media. The phrase leaves a bad taste in your mouth, almost as much as that other word, millennial. And as a millennial social media specialist, I have certainly struggled with my identity and life purpose these last few years.

With an emotionally intense past 18 months, it feels wearisome to even take on a new year. But time soldiers on, and so do we. And I’ve decided to no longer feel exhausted by the chaos of working in social media not by quitting - which I’ve seen too many brands do - but by influencing it with good.

There is a LOT of positivity on social media - you just need to know where to find it (and, you know, maybe unfollow some toxic people in your life). We can’t stop others from sharing posts that feel shaming, blaming or just plain mean, but we can offer positive, educational content that makes people feel good.

For a long time, I’ve felt that our little company is too small to influence change, but isn’t that where change begins? A ripple in a lake starts with tossing a single pebble. And with one post, on June 17 of this year, our team affected that change. We created a heartfelt and positive post for our client, Dr .Smitha Vilasagar, that was liked over 2,400 times including by Amy Schumer.

It wasn’t an ad buy. We didn’t ask our friends and family to flood the post with likes. It was an organic, small movement that meant a lot to a lot of people. Based in love, support and authentic content, I was so proud of the content my team developed, and the exceptional results we saw were just the icing.

Later, for Myers-Galloway Counseling, we shared an affirming quote for any woman who might be struggling. “Thank you! Oh how this jusr [sic] shifted my whole perspective,” wrote one follower, “I took my time and read this now its marinating in my heart mind body and soul. Thank you.”.

If our content supports one person, then I consider our work a success. Moving forward, we aim to do more work like this with brands and companies of all industries. In our current climate, the savviest of businesses know that they need to have more than numbers behind them to be attractive to investors and employees. They need to also have a mission, a purpose and a meaningful presence within the digital landscape.

In 2022, we want to work with businesses that understand the value of their word and their story. We want to work with businesses that see their marketing not as a sales tool but as a public expression of their mission and values.

We know you’re out there. We can change the social media landscape together. Join us.

With love,

Cassandra and the Next Page Family
