Today, I am grateful.
I’m going to be honest with you guys. Today has not been a good day. I sat down to write about what these “bad days” look like for an entrepreneur and “How to learn from them!” or some other convenient lesson like that.
But instead, I’m choosing to be grateful for what this lifestyle has taught me and what I have in this moment - not what I had yesterday (which was a great day, because, well, that’s life), and not what I have tomorrow (which isn’t guaranteed). For someone who practices yoga, I should be better at this. Here is an opportunity to start.
I am stressed. I have definitely cried today. I am exhausted. And I am grateful.
I am grateful that I have an amazing team of people who work with me through the creative process - and who are always on my side to problem solve and laugh (and sometimes drink) together.
I am grateful for other marketing professionals 10, 15, 20 years ahead of me in their careers who have taken my calls or sat down with me for a cup of coffee just so I could pick their brain.
I am grateful for the clients that have become friends. Who have trusted me to become a part of their business and - by extension - part of their family.
I am grateful that I can say “no” to opportunities when my plate is too full.
I am grateful for being in Charlotte. A city with a strong, warm, and welcoming entrepreneurial community.
I am grateful for my friends (local and long-distance) who tell me how amazing I’m doing, even if they don’t really know if I am or not.
I am grateful for former co-workers, acquaintances, long-distance family, and old friends who follow my social media channels even if they will never need my services.
I am grateful that my parents are the first people to tell me, “Don’t quit. Keep going.”
I am grateful for my sister who can help me normalize what is annoying (or actually not working) with social media when my patience is gone and who has offered to help me manage my own channels on days it falls to the back burner.
I am grateful for Max, who does not let me sit at my computer past 6PM when I should be feeding him dinner and who reminds me that a walk in the middle of the afternoon is good for both of us.
And, finally, I am grateful for my boyfriend, Ben, who, one year ago (almost to the day) told me I could do this and never let me look back.
